Beyond investing and contributing as board members of our portfolio companies, our team is directly involved in strategy, management recruiting, business development, fundraising, and other operating roles in our companies.

We are looking for an Investment Analyst to join our team. In this role you will serve as a member of the MBC investment team. The position will be based in San Francisco/San Carlos, CA. We believe in the strength of our ecosystem’s culture and value working in person alongside our entrepreneurial community. This is a hybrid role, but the expectation is that you will be on-site at one of our Bay Area collaborative lab spaces at least 4 days per week.

Responsibilities

  • As an integral member of the investment team, conduct, document, and organize scientific, strategic, financial, and operational diligence for investments, as well as generate financial models to guide decisions across the portfolio
  • Carry out market, disease area, and competitive research as well as generation of presentations for both internal and external use
  • Assist with other activities in support of the MBC company creation efforts, portfolio company operations, the firm, and the broader MBC network of entrepreneurs and advisors

Ideal candidates should:

  • Possess a Ph.D. or an M.D. and/or four or more years of analytical experience from a life science-focused management consulting, investment banking, or equity research role, or have other relevant business, finance or operational experience
  • Be intimately familiar with and passionate about drug discovery, biotechnology, and the pharmaceutical industry
