VC Analyst @ Congruent Ventures in San Francisco, CA

Congruent Ventures

The Firm:  Congruent Ventures is a leading venture firm that invests against global macro trends in sustainability and climate tech across four themes: Mobility and Urbanization, the Energy Transition, Food and Agriculture,  and Sustainable Production and Consumption. We invest in software, hardware, frontier tech, and fintech across many sectors including industrials and manufacturing, insurance, computing and artificial intelligence, supply chain, robotics, space, agriculture, and more. Founded in 2017, Congruent has invested in 60+ companies from pre-Seed to Series A. Investing out of its third flagship fund and first growth fund, the firm has ~$1B AUM. Congruent’s team is 13 strong, is based in downtown San Francisco, and invests across North America.

The Candidate:  We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented growth equity analyst to join our team. As a member of the investment team, you will be responsible for evaluating and executing investments for the Continuity Fund. You will work closely with senior investors and portfolio companies to conduct due diligence and deal execution to support our high-growth companies.

The Congruent team is small, nimble, and collaborative.  We do not tolerate jerks, nor do we tolerate interpersonal politicking; we value diversity of opinion, background, and experience.  We value respectful but knowledge-based discussions and believe the best investment decisions are made when opinions differ, but the facts have been thoughtfully discussed by the investment team and considered without deferring exclusively to position.  Everyone has a voice and should not be reticent to use it.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 1-2+ years of work experience in growth equity, private equity/credit, investment banking, or a related field, with a focus on energy, climate tech or sustainability as a strong plus
  • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize complex data and produce clear, actionable insights
  • Experience directly supporting investment diligence and/or deal processes in a VC/PE or investment banking environment and proven ability to engage with internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Passion and intellectual curiosity for climate change, sustainability, and venture capital. Enthusiasm for supporting founders, teams, and internal collaboration with a high confidence, but a low ego personality.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in finance, economics or a related field
  • Outstanding work ethic. Self-starter with strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple work streams simultaneously.

Job Description: Congruent Ventures is looking to bring on an analyst to primarily support Congruent’s $300M Continuity Fund. The Continuity Fund is deployed into high potential Congruent portfolio companies from early stage to full commercialization, typically targeting Series B-D+ investments. As a member of the investment deal team, you will work closely with our entire team while reporting to our Continuity Fund Partners across all facets of the investment process. Job responsibilities include:

  • Perform financial modeling, data analyses, and valuation and sensitivity analyses to evaluate potential investment opportunities
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative due diligence, including market sizing, competitive landscape analysis, and expert network calls
  • Prepare investment memos and presentation materials for internal investment committees and external stakeholders
  • Stay up to date on industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies in the climate tech sector
  • Where relevant, work with lead partners on portfolio companies post-investment, providing input to Congruent and startup teams
  • Selflessly act as a Congruent brand ambassador in the ecosystem while maintaining company-first mentality
