Cometa
Cometa is a regional venture capital firm investing in the founders building the future of the Spanish-speaking world. Since 2012, we have backed dozens of technology companies, including Bitso, Cabify, Kueski, and Simetrik, that are reshaping how the region works, lives, and thrives.
Cometa is a fast-paced, collaborative, high-conviction, and founder-centric fund, where team members are expected to think independently, exercise sound judgment, and work closely with founders and investors across the region. Everyone at Cometa is expected to think and act like an owner, contributing to help shape the firm’s growth and evolution.
The Role
We’re looking for an Investment Analyst to support the sourcing, screening, and evaluation of new investment opportunities, and to help our team manage the portfolio. You’ll research the market, build relationships across the startup and VC ecosystem, and support the investment process end-to-end, from first-pass screening to memos and analysis. The role also extends into portfolio tracking, reporting, and day-to-day support across the team.
What You’ll Do
- Support the investment team throughout the process of identifying, selecting, and managing opportunities
- Identify investment opportunities through market research, founder networks, and relationships with early-stage funds
- Keep the CRM updated with investment opportunities
- Build automations leveraging AI tools to elevate the investment process
- Support the team in portfolio management
- Own the tracking of portfolio company performance and data requests
- Support day-to-day ad hoc requests across a variety of topics.
What We’re Looking For
- 1-3 years of professional experience in venture capital, the startup ecosystem, tech companies, private equity, consulting, or finance
- Analytical rigor — strong Excel and PowerPoint skills, with attention to detail
- Curiosity — asks questions, investigates, and seeks to understand the “why” behind the data
- Ownership — executes assigned tasks with quality and without needing constant follow-up
- Written communication — can synthesize complex information into clear, well-structured reports
- Loves the craft — genuine interest in technology companies
- Business sense — good judgment evaluating systems and making decisions
- AI fluency — eager to learn and apply AI in day-to-day work
- Coachability — takes feedback well and applies it quickly; in an active-learning stage.
What We Offer
- A front-row seat to the technology and innovation curve shaping Spanish-speaking markets
- A fast-paced, high-intensity environment with real exposure: to deals, to founders, and to how decisions get made
- A collaborative team invested in your growth, with mentorship and learning across venture, business, technology, finance, and consulting
- Real ownership from day one where you shape your own path, not just follow one
- Direct access to a network of founders, investors, and funds across the region
- Competitive compensation, aligned with the value you bring
- Regular travel across Latin America, time in the field with founders and portfolio companies, not just behind a desk.
