Overview:
NewsBreak is hiring a senior principal or venture partner to lead our corporate venture fund. This is a dynamic senior role based in the San Francisco Bay Area. The ideal candidate has worked 5+ years at an early-stage venture firm, focused on AI technology and media verticals. He or she is a high-energy self-starter who builds trusted relationships with founders, generates consistent deals for our investment team, understands approaches to building products and companies, and drives value for founders through professional insights and special projects.
Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Actively source deals and manage our pipeline. Build relationships across startups, venture capital firms, startup accelerators, and other ecosystem partners
  • Lead diligence and execute deals by evaluating thesis fit, financial models, leadership quality, business execution, and other relevant variables
  • Serve as committed partner to portfolio teams as they navigate the entrepreneurial journey. Discern what makes portfolio companies unique and how NewsBreak can support their growth trajectories through technical enablement (user acquisition, product-led growth, monetization etc.)
  • Lead internal firm operations, including quarterly reporting, fund administration, marketing efforts, portfolio gatherings, annual meetings, and platform operations
You might thrive in this role if you have:
  • 5+ years of progressive business experience in early-stage venture investing
  • Existing network in the San Francisco Bay Area’s startup ecosystem
  • Undergraduate and MBA degree at a top-tier program
  • Excellent business sense, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Deep interest in analyzing data with the ability to distill trends and provide principled recommendations
  • Excellent communication, influencing and interpersonal skills and strong executive presence with an ability to present thoughtful input to decision-making
  • Passion for innovative technologies and artificial intelligence, with a strong pulse on key trends, themes and players.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is listed below. Pay may vary based on a number of factors including job-related skills, level, experience, geographic location and relevant education or training. At NewsBreak, we design our overall rewards package to attract top talents. Depending on the position, the role may also be eligible for discretionary bonus and options. Annual Base Pay Range

$200,000 – $280,000 USD
