Senior Associate or Principal

Location: San Francisco, CA

Propel is expanding its investment team and is looking for a driven, entrepreneurial investor to join us in our San Francisco office. This role offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the venture capital world, work closely with groundbreaking founders, and contribute to the growth of transformative companies. We are excited to support the next generation of entrepreneurs building at the intersection of technology and financial services and believe expanding our team will enable us to do even more.

As an integral part of Propel’s investment team, you will help research, source, and evaluate investment opportunities while supporting our portfolio companies. This position provides exposure to some of the most innovative areas of the economy and valuable experience in operating a venture capital fund.

Key Responsibilities

• Deal Sourcing: Source and evaluate early-stage investment opportunities (Pre-Seed to Series A).
• Deal Evaluation: Conduct due diligence, including writing investment memos, performing market analysis, and customer and founder references.
• Portfolio Support: Collaborate with portfolio companies on critical initiatives, such as recruiting, fundraising, and business development.
• Research & Content: Develop investment theses in emerging industries, produce content to spotlight Propel’s areas of interest, and analyze industry trends.
• Platform: Enhance internal tools and systems to improve team collaboration and productivity and organize events to drive industry connectivity.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience: 4-6 years of relevant professional experience, including 1-3 years in venture capital, growth equity, or PE. A proven track record in fast-paced, dynamic environments and a demonstrated passion for startups and technology are essential.
• Relationship-Driven: Strong networking skills with the ability to build meaningful connections with founders, industry leaders, and limited partners.
• Analytical Mindset: Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to conduct rigorous due diligence and think critically about markets and opportunities.
• Proactive and Organized: Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities effectively.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree from a top university.
