Rebel Fund
Rebel is a $175M seed-stage venture capital fund located in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and investing exclusively in Y Combinator startups. The fund’s Managing Director will be responsible for providing day-to-day operational leadership and assuring compliance with Puerto Rico tax and regulatory requirements. This role focuses on overseeing internal fund operations, finalizing investment decisions and documents, maintaining relationships with Limited Partners (LPs), and managing the fund’s outsourced financial services vendor relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage internal team
- Lead weekly Zoom meetings with full-time team members
- Oversee the fund’s investor relations, portfolio development, and admin functions
- LP communication and fundraising
- Lead virtual update meetings with current and potential LPs
- Review and send quarterly LP update decks
- Organize and oversee Fund III fundraising process
- Lead investing process
- Help pre-screen startups for further due diligence by Rebel partners
- Oversee startup due diligence and investing processes
- Coordinate and attend virtual quarterly Investment Committee meetings
- Legal and administrative
- Review, sign and execute important legal contracts, investment documents, LP agreements, tax and regulatory filings
- Liaise with outsourced CFO, fund administration, accounting, tax, and audit firms
- Review quarterly management company and fund P&Ls and control expenses
- Attend and record minutes of annual Board meetings in Puerto Rico
- Help organize and attend annual LP meeting (AGM) in San Francisco
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5-10 years experience in finance, venture capital, private equity or startups
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for managing relationships with internal team members, investors, portfolio companies, and service providers
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or a related field
- Must be based in Puerto Rico or willing to relocate
