Drive Capital
Drive Capital is a venture capital fund focused on building the next generation of category-defining technology companies across North America. Since our founding in 2013, we’ve invested in more than 150 companies, including Duolingo, Root Insurance, VAST Data, ApplyBoard, and Alpaca. Today, we manage over $2.5B in assets.
We believe exceptional companies can be built anywhere. Our mission is to support founders building market-defining businesses “between the coasts” and to play an active role in shaping the ecosystems where they operate.
About the Role
We’re hiring an Investor Relations Associate to help scale and evolve how Drive builds relationships with institutional investors (Limited Partners).
This is a hands-on, execution-oriented role for someone early in their career who is excited to operate at the intersection of venture capital and fundraising. You’ll work closely with senior leadership to expand our LP network, increase investor engagement, and support the firm’s capital formation efforts.
You’ll start by building pipeline and driving investor engagement – and over time, take on increasing ownership of relationships and fundraising outcomes. For someone looking to build a long-term career in investor relations or venture, this is a rare opportunity to learn the craft directly from experienced operators while developing the foundation to run a territory and own outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Investor Pipeline Development
- Build and maintain a pipeline of institutional investors, including public pensions, healthcare systems, endowments, and foundations
- Research and map key markets to identify relevant organizations and decision-makers
- Support outbound outreach efforts to initiate new LP relationships
Investor Engagement & Fundraising Support
- Own the day-to-day cadence of LP engagement – scheduling, email follow-ups, and roadshow logistics – so senior leadership stays focused on the highest-value conversations
- Partner with senior leadership to prepare for and execute investor meetings, including travel into core markets (~3 weeks/month) as you take on more direct LP exposure over time
- Sit in on investor meetings, drive post-meeting follow-through, and grow into leading LP conversations of your own
- Help move prospective investors through the fundraising process
Relationship Development
- Build, foster, and mature relationships with LPs over time through consistent, thoughtful follow-up
- Develop a strong command of Drive’s investment thesis, portfolio, and performance – and how to communicate it credibly to sophisticated allocators
- Learn to identify high-potential relationships and areas to deepen coverage over time
Operations & Coordination
- Maintain CRM systems with a high level of accuracy and organization
- Track pipeline activity, meeting volume, and engagement metrics
- Coordinate investor materials, communications, and roadshow logistics end-to-end
Who You Are
- A builder, not a rolodex – you’re energized by opening doors from scratch and maturing LP relationships over years
- Strong executive presence – you’re comfortable representing the firm in high-visibility settings and can hold your own in a room with a junior associate or a CIO from day one
- Utility-player, athlete mentality – multi-purpose, competitive, and energized by keeping multiple balls in the air; former competitive athletes often thrive here
- Hungry and humble – no job is below you; you’d rather earn the next opportunity than be handed it
- Highly motivated and resilient – you’re comfortable in a role that requires persistence and consistency
- Detail-oriented and organized – you can manage a high volume of activity, tight cadences, and complex travel without dropping the ball
- Curious about venture capital, institutional investors, and how capital flows
Preferred Experience
- 1-3 years of experience in investor relations, capital intro/placement, capital formation, investment banking, asset management, or a client-facing role at an expert network
- Experience at a top-tier financial institution – including bank analyst or associate programs – with exposure to institutional investors is a strong plus
- Prior IR experience at a private investment firm (e.g., a mid-sized real estate, credit, or PE fund) is a strong plus
- Background in highly competitive environments (e.g., collegiate or professional athletics, top-tier sales orgs) is a meaningful plus
The target salary range for this role is $100,000-$150,000. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for our comprehensive benefits package, which includes health/dental/vision insurance, 401(k), unlimited PTO and other offerings. You may also be eligible for incremental performance-based incentives and equity compensation in the form of carried interest.
