Location: Portugal and other EU countries will be considered (Travel Required)

Compensation: Equity & Commission-Based (Pre-Funding); Salary Post-Successful Funding Round

About Bumatic:

Bumatic is an ambitious early-stage startup poised to revolutionise the global construction industry. We are developing proprietary construction technology integrating AI, robotics, and advanced 3D printing techniques to build sustainable, affordable, and high-quality housing at scale. Our mission is to address the critical global housing crisis by making construction faster, cheaper, and more efficient. We are seeking a passionate and experienced Co-founder & CIO to join our core team and lead our crucial fundraising initiatives.

Role Mission:

As Co-founder & CIO, your primary mission is to architect and execute Bumatic’s comprehensive fundraising strategy. You will be instrumental in securing the necessary capital (pre-seed, seed, grants, Series A, etc.) from diverse sources to fuel our technology development, scale operations, build strategic partnerships, and achieve our company milestones. You will be a key voice and face of the company to the investment community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fundraising Strategy & Execution: Develop, refine, and execute a multi-channel fundraising strategy targeting angel investors, venture capital firms (Seed to Series A+), government grants, impact investors, corporate venture capital (CVC), and other relevant funding sources.
  • Investor Relations & Network Building: Identify, prospect, cultivate, and manage relationships with potential investors and funding bodies globally. Leverage and expand your existing network within relevant investment circles (Deep Tech, ConTech, PropTech, Robotics, AI, Impact Investing).
  • Pitching & Presentation: Craft compelling investment narratives, pitch decks, financial models, and executive summaries. Confidently and effectively pitch Bumatic to investors, judging panels, and potential partners at meetings, demo days, and industry events.
  • Event & Program Identification: Proactively research, identify, and evaluate relevant startup competitions, accelerator/incubator programs, industry conferences, and networking events that offer funding opportunities, strategic partnerships, or valuable exposure.
  • Event Participation & Representation: Represent Bumatic at identified events, including pitching, networking, and relationship building. Requires significant willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally, often on short notice.
  • Grant & Non-Dilutive Funding: Lead the identification, application process, and reporting for relevant local, national, and international grants and other non-dilutive funding opportunities.
  • Strategic Partnerships: Identify, negotiate, and establish strategic partnerships with corporations, research institutions, government bodies, and other startups that can provide funding, resources, pilot opportunities, or market access.
  • Financial Planning & Due Diligence: Collaborate with the founding team on financial forecasting, valuation discussions, cap table management, deal structuring, and term sheet negotiation. Manage the investor due diligence process efficiently.
  • Market Intelligence: Maintain a keen understanding of the investment landscape, competitor funding activities, market trends, and investor sentiment within the ConTech, robotics, AI, and housing sectors.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Proven, demonstrable track record of successfully raising significant capital (e.g., $1M+ in pre-seed/seed/grant funding) for early-stage technology startups.
  • Strong, existing, and active network within the angel investor and venture capital community. Specific experience with hardware, deep tech, construction tech, or impact investors is highly advantageous.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, interpersonal, and negotiation skills. Ability to articulate complex technical concepts into compelling business propositions.
  • Solid understanding of startup finance, including financial modelling, valuation methodologies, term sheets, capitalisation tables, and deal structuring.
  • Experience identifying, applying for, and securing grants or other forms of non-dilutive funding.
  • Highly motivated self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit, resilience, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, and resource-constrained startup environment.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and business acumen.
  • Absolute willingness and ability to travel frequently as required for fundraising and partnership activities.
  • Passion for Bumatic’s mission to solve the housing crisis through technology.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field.

Nice to Have:

  • Previous experience as a founder or co-founder of a technology startup.
  • Direct experience in the Construction Technology (ConTech), PropTech, Robotics, AI, or Advanced Manufacturing sectors.
  • Experience with international fundraising (US, Europe, Asia).
  • MBA or advanced degree in a relevant field.

Compensation & Opportunity:

  • Co-founder Equity: Significant equity stake in Bumatic, commensurate with experience and role as a co-founder.
  • Commission: Potential for an interim commission structure based on a percentage (%) of funds successfully raised, finalised upon mutual agreement.
  • No Initial Salary: This is a founder-level role; a cash salary is not provided until a significant funding round is successfully closed.
  • Future Salary: A competitive market-rate salary package will be implemented following the successful closing of the first major funding round.
  • Impact: The unique opportunity to be a foundational member of a company with the potential for massive global impact, shaping the future of construction and housing.

How to Apply:

If you are a driven, experienced fundraising professional with an entrepreneurial fire and a passion for disruptive technology, we want to hear from you. Please submit your CV and a compelling cover letter outlining:

  • Your specific fundraising successes (types of funding, amounts raised, stage of companies).
  • Your relevant network and experience.
