Hatch Blue
Hatch Blue is a knowledge-based firm focused on sustainable aquaculture and alternative seafood globally. Comprising of four business units – investment management, consulting, startup programs and media – it has a team of 31 working across five offices in Europe, North America and Asia. Hatch Blue manages three funds, has made >60 investments, run six accelerator programs and 15 innovation studios, and delivered dozens of highly specialized consulting projects to blue chip clients.
The Position
The Chief of Staff will play a critical role in supporting the CEO and the executive team, ensuring that the company’s strategic objectives are executed efficiently and effectively. The successful candidate will act as a key program manager, coordinator, and implementer, managing high-priority projects, facilitating communication, and driving operational excellence across the organization. The Chief of Staff will play a pivotal role in operationalizing Hatch Blue’s strategy, fostering a collaborative and pleasant culture. This is a unique role at the very core of Hatch Blue with 360-degree view across all of its activities from venture capital via accelerator programs to specialist consulting.
Responsibilities:
● Operationalizing Strategy
○ Assist the CEO and the executive team in implementing strategic initiatives at the group level and across Hatch Blue’s four business units
○ Coordinate cross-functional teams and monitor the progress of key projects and initiatives
○ Identify and address operational inefficiencies
● Administrative Management
○ Manage a team of 1-2 Team Assistants (TAs) as direct reports; TAs provide a shared services to all business units in areas such as travel, event planning and coordination, knowledge and document management, project support and communications
○ With the help of TAs, organize group events, including company-wide semi-annual offsites, Executive Committee meetings and annual investor days
● Executive and Board Support
○ Assist in the preparation and follow-up of executive and board meetings, ensuring action items are completed
○ Facilitate effective communication and information flow within the organization
● Knowledge and Talent Management Support
○ Support business unit leads in recruiting and developing Hatch Blue’s talent bench
○ Foster the development of a culture of collaboration, intellectual honesty, and integrity
○ Support group-wide knowledge management function and the related development of tools
Experience and Qualifications:
● Optimally a current Associate with the Big Three / MBB, but we are open to varying backgrounds providing the same level of rigor, problem solving skills and toolbox
● STEM or Business Administration undergraduate degree, MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred – top grades from top institution(s)
● Prefer candidates that have experience in more than one of the following:
○ Venture capital fund manager
○ Impact investment fund manager
○ Startup or scaleup company
○ Blue-chip consultancy
○ Aqua- / Agri- / Food-tech
○ SHREK 5 executive search firms
○ Knowledge management organization, especially if AI-enabled
● >4 years of experience in a strategic or operational role, preferably in a high-growth or mission-driven organization at a reputable organizations
● Demonstrated commitment to sustainability, environmental stewardship and social impact
