About the Associate position
Seeking an Associate to manage deal sourcing and value added services for Brighteye Ventures. The position is based in London 🇬🇧 or Paris 🇫🇷.
The Associate will be the point person for identifying promising startups, connecting portfolio companies to our growing network and tracking their progress. In addition, she/he will assist with investment analysis and execution.
Applicants should be self-driven professionals with a commitment to improving the experience of learning and education. This individual will have wide interests beyond education in tech and business and a strong passion for people. She/he can both create ideas and execute them successfully.
Our ideal hire is self-aware, communicates clearly, takes feedback well, embraces change, tolerates ambiguity, and can work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities
•Source investment opportunities and support partners through the process
•Manage and maintain tracking of deal sourcing efforts for the fund, interfacing with accelerators, industry association, third party and proprietary data sources
•Cultivate a network of entrepreneurs in EdTech such that the firm has an understanding of the most promising start-ups in the sector (especially at the pre-Series A stage)
•Develop and maintain a comprehensive current list of resources for Brighteye portfolio companies and coordinate access to resources and events for these companies
•Create regular updates for portfolio companies and for the broader network to be aware of speaking opportunities, events, hiring opportunities and other developments of interest
•Work with our communications team to evangelize portfolio companies on an as needed basis
•Work closely with the partners to track portfolio companies’ financial progress, product development and educational impact via metrics and qualitative examples
•Shadow Partners for board meetings
Key Qualifications
•Demonstrated ability to build networks/relationships. Pre-existing network within education or tech sector in Europe would be ideal
•Demonstrated strong organizational capacity
•Demonstrated experience working in or around high-growth startups
•Strong record of academic and personal achievement
•3-5 years experience; experience at a startup or within education will be a plus
•Familiarity with data analysis and ability to automate the collection of startup data would be a plus
•Fluency in languages beyond English also a plus
