The Head of Avios Ventures is part of the digital senior management team and will work closely with the Chief Digital Officer and the Avios leadership team to find and attract new business opportunities that have a technology or platform USP in sectors of interest for the Avios business.
The suitable candidate will have a background working within or alongside start-ups with a proven track record in scouting, assessing, and delivering new business in this field. They will also have the ability to provide strategic, commercial and general support to the wider business on the technology and start-up sectors of new business.
The role will be located primarily in London with regular meetings at Heathrow. Overseas travel will also be required.
What You’ll Be Doing

- Identify use cases where future growth of the technology sector can be used to grow the Avios business
- Scout, assess and support delivery of new businesses and products in the technology ecosystem
- Translate new technology concepts into business models and innovative products
- Investigate and oversee the financial and commercial analysis of those opportunities within and across the organisation
- Manage senior stakeholders across Avios Group Limited (AGL) and International Airlines Group (IAG) working closely with IAG Digital Ventures team
- Consult and provide leadership support to the business as part of the digital senior management team
- Oversee, manage and undertake research to provide robust analysis
- Work closely with the finance and legal departments in associated governance and due diligence processes
What We’re Looking For
-
- Experience of venture capital, consulting and /or a similar position
- Commercial modelling experience and strong analytical and numerical skills are essential
- Strong interpersonal skills are very important – enabling confident communication at all levels and the successful management of stakeholders across IAG
- Strong research and analytical skills, particularly in the area of venture capital investing or corporate M&A
- Experience in pitching new companies or new business units to investors or senior level staff
- Experience in research and due diligence preparation
- Experience of managing mergers and acquisitions is desirable
- Spoken and written foreign languages is desirable (such as Spanish)
- Relevant degree or MBA is desirable but not mandatory
