Los Angeles based Skyview Capital Ventures, a wholly owned subsidiary of Private Equity firm Skyview Capital, is seeking to hire a Managing Director/Partner (“Candidate”) for its rapidly growing Ventures platform and upcoming fundraising initiatives. The ideal Candidate will help with sourcing, deal execution, diligence of new opportunities, portfolio oversight, and continued fundraising. The Candidate will be an early and integral part to the overall growth and success of Skyview’s Venture objectives and extremely involved in the aggressive expansion of the firm’s practices.
The Candidate will assist with the following activities:
- Sourcing and Marketing
- Sourcing deal opportunities from the venture ecosystem
- Participating in ecosystem outreach (e.g. speaking on venture panels; judging business plan competitions; attending startup networking events)
- Tracking industry trends across several sectors
- Deal Execution
- Review deal materials
- Prepare powerpoint summaries of deal opportunities or strategic plans
- Review deal datarooms and conduct due diligence
- Industry and market research
- Operational model building
- Competitor research and comp valuation
- Lead due diligence meetings
- Perform analytics of company performance
- Deal Negotiation and execution
- Portfolio Management
- Tracking portfolio and company performance
- Assist with improving portfolio company processes
- Strategic Introductions employees, partners, investors to portfolio companies
- Serve as Board Observer or Board Member
The ideal background for the Candidate is a combination of Venture Capital, consulting, corporate finance, and/or operating experience. Having at least 3 years of direct Venture Capital Investing at a dedicated fund is required. Total post-undergrad experience of 8-15 years. Top-10 MBA Preferred. Ideal Candidate has at least 3-5 years as an Associate and VP at a West Coast venture firm, with a focus on technology, business services, and/or consumer industries. Position is based in Los Angeles with a willingness to travel as often as required.
Key skillsets include:
- 6 years of Microsoft Office Experience
- Very Strong Financial Modeling skills and ability to analyze large data sets (e.g. pivot tables)
- Understanding of GAAP
- Confident public speaker
- Strong in public speaking and written communications
- Exposure to our core industries of Tech, Software, Telecom, Business Services, Industrial, and/or Consumer
- Understanding of due diligence process
- Experience in M&A and venture transactions
- Experience dealing with Limited partners on fundraising and portfolio reporting
- Experience serving on venture-backed company boards
- Deal track record
- Strong venture ecosystem network (e.g. universities, startups, bankers, lawyers, incubators)
