The current team is divided into two units, each of which is responsible for identifying impact and investment strategies, managing the portfolio and originating new deals in line with their sector focus and asset classes:
Real assets
This group manages the real estate portfolio. Representative sectors include affordable housing, transformative development, energy efficiency, renewables and urban agriculture.
Private Equity & Credit
This group manages direct investments into for-profit and non-profit businesses as well as venture capital and private equity funds. Representative sectors and transactions include financial technology, education technology, B Corps, charter schools, community development financial institutions, microfinance institutions and companies addressing sustainability and resilience.
The group is seeking a senior-level investment professional to execute both debt and equity investments. This person would be responsible for shaping the development of a subset of the portfolio and contributing to the overall success of the program. The ideal candidate would have a passion for impact investing and bring a mix of entrepreneurial spirit, investment track record and corporate or investment banking experience.
Specific responsibilities include:
Portfolio management including portfolio construction, performance analysis and risk management.
Sourcing and structuring new investments, including private debt and equity opportunities, across multiple sectors and geographies.
Leading underwriting of strategic and high-risk transactions, including streamlining underwriting and reporting templates and negotiating and executing transactions in conjunction with legal and other professionals.
Maintaining key internal relationships and contributing to initiatives that align impact objectives with corporate priorities.
Supporting communications and impact evaluations of investments made in the portfolio.
Presenting on new investments, the portfolio and new strategies to internal audiences including credit and investment committees, portfolio management committees, and the CSR oversight committee.
Representing Prudential at external events.
Managing talent for a team of approximately 2-3 individuals.
Bachelors degree required, MBA or similar graduate degree strongly preferred.
10-15 years direct investment experience in private equity or credit as well as prior experience in investment banking or management consulting. Prior investment experience should demonstrate strong performance track record and broad diversification across sectors and geographies. Experience restructuring investments highly valued.
Strong sourcing channels and relationships with other investors and sponsors.
Exceptional writing and presentation skills.
Excellent judgment and an innovative, pro-active problem solving orientation.
Strong evidence of talent management and organizational development.
An excellent relationship builder, with the proven ability to effectively implement new approaches by striking the right balance between getting buy-in and support, and pushing for results.
Ability to collaborate across teams and accept feedback from all levels of the organization.
Prior familiarity with impact investing, ESG, CSR and impact measurement highly desired.

The position will report to the head of Private Equity and Credit for Impact and Responsible Investments within the Office of Diversity, Impact & Inclusion (DI&I). DI&I oversees a range of resources committed to furthering the company’s impact priorities. These resources include impact investments, philanthropic grants, corporate contributions and employee engagement.
