Blu Venture Investors, LLC (BVI) is an early stage Venture Capital and Private Equity company providing initial and growth-stage funding and active mentorship to early-stage companies in the Mid-Atlantic region, while delivering strong returns for its investors and the entrepreneurs they support.
The Role
- Summer Analyst position based near Washington DC;
- Perform market research and due diligence for potential investments, which could entail financial or web-analytics modeling, or testing products and services;
- Meet with entrepreneurs, analyzing business plans and revenue models, seeking copmanies that fit the BVI investment thesis;
- Support BVI portfolio companies, including research projects, competitor analysis, valuation work, and attending board level meetings;
- Design and execute projects at the direction of VP that help BVI and/or our portfolio companies;
- Identify, research and report on new visual tech markets and trends;
- Help organize and attend industry events representing BVI;
- Reporting to our investors, which includes helping value our investments, writing quarterly updates, and packaging the material for our investors;
Requirements
- You need to be a student at an accredited university;
- BA/BS or Masters candidate – concentration/major Finance or Economics preferred;
- You bring with you an admirable work ethic, an inherent curiosity about technology, and you are analytical, diligent, organized, and a self-starter;
- Strong initiative and a desire to work hard in a startup environment;
- Extraordinary communication skills;
- Passionate about startups, entrepreneurship, and venture capital;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Bonus Points (for any of the following):
- Experience with financial modeling / strong financial acumen
- Previous experience working in or with startups
- Technical background
- Pre-existing networks / high connectivity to startup ecosystem
- High energy and outgoing;
