VC Internship at Flatiron Investors in NYC

The Internship is for graduates who are between jobs and who have the time/motivation to apprentice in Venture for a 3-month period. It is an unpaid internship ideally suited for people who are looking to get their feet wet in the VC industry. Interns will have the chance to build their network with management from top VC firms as well as passionate entrepreneurs.

Flatiron Investors is a NY-based investor syndicate comprised of 40+ sophisticated investors from a variety of industries — hedge funds,
family offices, institutions, Wall Street, venture, and tech. Flatiron Investors is not your ordinary, take-it-slow investment club. We treat
this like a professional fund. We look at 20+ deals per week and bring 4-6 deals a month to our investor network. If there is interest, we move quickly. There is no cap on the amount we can invest.

The VC role (your official title will be Venture Partner) will be involved in all aspects of Flatiron Investors’ activity, and will have direct interaction with the managing team and founders that are brought before FI.

The role will include:

Due diligence on startup opportunities. You will think of creative ways to evaluate startup opportunities and verify the claims made by companies presenting to Flatiron Investors.

Fund operations work including managing a large amount of deal flow coming into the firm. We are constantly looking for ways to speed up communications with limited partners, investors, and startups. You will be in charge of making sure nothing falls between the cracks.

Events. Be prepared to turn on the charm. We do monthly startup showcases and breakfasts for entrepreneurs. Part of our value-add for companies is the large array of startup events we host each month. You will be as involved as you want to be in the event process.

Applicant must have:

  • Familiarity with the tech and venture landscape
  • Intellectual curiosity and passion for venture and startups
  • Ability to self-direct, analyze, evaluate, and form perspective around
    companies on the fly
  • Record of academic achievement
  • Exceptional organizational skills and strong attention to detail

Other things we like (but are not deal breakers):

  • Venture capital experience
  • Familiarity with VC metrics (EG know how to calculate IRR, how to forecast ARR)
  • Coding experience
  • Experience at a tech company, consulting firm, or investment bank
