VC Internship @ Amgen in Thousand Oaks, CA

Amgen’s 10 – 12 week internship program offers meaningful project experiences that impact patient’s lives. This internship provides the opportunity for executive and social networking events and to participate in community volunteer projects while providing a competitive compensation.Responsibilities Will IncludeThe intern will work closely with various business development deal teams supporting, analyzing and executing transactions designed to meet Amgen’s strategic objectives.

  • Liaising and working closely with senior levels
  • Analyzing competitive landscapes for therapeutic areas to develop potential targets
  • Building financial valuation and transaction models
  • Performing scenario analysis to assess economic impact
  • Assisting in planning and/or running transaction and BD operations processes
  • Preparing materials for internal governance and cross-functional team meeting
  • Supporting negotiations and deal structuring

Basic QualificationsAmgen requires that all individuals applying for an undergraduate internship or an undergraduate co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:

  • 18 years or older
  • Currently enrolled in a full time Bachelor’s degree program from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent
  • Completion of one year of study from an accredited college or university prior to the internship commencing
  • Enrolled in a full time Bachelor’s or Combined Bachelor’s/Master’s degree program following the potential internship or co-op assignment with an accredited college or university
  • Must not be employed at the time the internship starts

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in one of the following areas: Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration, Human Biology, Computer Science, Pre-Med, Pre-Law, Pre-Business
  • Students Considering internships or careers in Investment Banking, Consulting, Venture Capital, Private Equity, Law, Accounting, Entrepreneurship or General healthcare
  • Junior standing with graduation in either December of 2018 or summer of 2019
  • Able to demonstrate an understanding of basic financial analytical principles
  • Prior work experience
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Effective communication and organizational skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word
  • Ability to multi-task and stay focused on priorities in a fast paced environment in order to meet deadlines
  • Strong team player who is able to collaborate with colleagues on complex assignments
