The Director of Strategic Venture (DSV) is responsible for leading a team that manages the company’s venture capital investments and translating the intelligence and insights from these engagements into implications and actions across the enterprise. The DSV is responsible for delivering overall results from the team which includes:

- Developing internal venture capital capability
- Insight gained and translated into actions which include feeding ideas into innovation backlog, developing business partnership or generating additional investment opportunities
- Investment performance
The DSV leads the engagements of company investments and develops the vision, long term strategy and annual operations plan for the team. The DSV will establish strong connections with internal key stakeholders and have strong understanding of potential opportunities. The DSV will also ensure that team’s culture and values are in line with Entergy’s and are ideal to attract and retain high potential talent within Entergy.
The DSV will develop points of view surrounding new and emerging electricity generation, distribution, and consumer-oriented technologies that hold the potential to transform the electric utility industry and evaluate and pursue partnership opportunities with companies at intersection points between energy supply and other products and services. Examples include distributed solar concepts, utility-scale solar (distribution voltage-connected), battery storage, micro-grids, EV infrastructure, etc. From these points of view they will guide the business on actions to take to drive the business.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
Lead the company’s venture investment decisions and manage company’s venture relationships
- Identify and cultivate investment opportunities via networking, searches and other connections
- Oversee overall venture investment process including finance, valuation, legal, due diligence and execution
- Primary contact for company’s venture relationship
Develop internal venture capital capabilities
- Recruit or develop internal venture capital capabilities including finance, valuation, legal and commercialization (maximizing value of investment through partnership or connection)
- Develop and maintain potential deal flows
Develop insights and translate into actions

- Develop strong point-of-view of venture market and potential disruptions
- Recommend actions for rest of company: new initiatives for innovation center, business partnership or additional investment opportunities
Minimum Requirements
Education required of the position
Bachelors degree in engineering, business, economics, accounting or related field. MBA or masters degree in related area desired.
Experience required of the position
5+ years corporate venture capital and business development experience required. Experience in emerging energy technologies. Proven track record of accomplishments and successful C-level interface internally and externally. Experience with renewable, storage, and/or distributed technologies highly desired. Proven business development experience.
Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology to power generation and/or consumption preferred. Must hold network of contacts in energy industry to help facilitate points-of-view, partnership and growth opportunities going forward. Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to successfully deliver presentations in senior or large forums.
