The Associate position will be a part of Wells Fargo Strategic Capital (WFSC) working primarily alongside the Healthcare and Technology Divisions. On occasion, the Associate may also work with other investment teams to analyze and execute private equity transactions in other industries. WFSC provides capital solutions to companies for layers of the capital structure that other parts of Wells Fargo do not generally provide, such as common stock, preferred stock, and mezzanine debt. WFSC’s investment size primarily ranges from $3MM to $30MM. The team provides capital solutions to emerging and middle market companies, both existing bank clients and prospective clients. WFSC works independently in some instances and in other situations works in partnership with other Wells Fargo lines of business. Although there is flexibility in the stage of development of companies of interest, the general focus is mid venture stage through large growth equity.
This position offers attractive opportunities for a high-energy candidate who is a motivated self-starter. The Associate will have the opportunity to work on a broad array of creative financial structures as part of a focus on venture capital, private equity, and mezzanine debt opportunities for Healthcare and Technology companies. Individual should have 2+ years of banking, investment banking, venture capital, or private equity experience. The position will support WFSC Managing Directors, Directors and Vice Presidents in analyzing and executing direct equity investments and credit transactions. The Associate will manage extensive modeling effort for proposed transactions. The position will also be actively involved with the WFSC team in the structuring, pricing and due diligence of principal investment transactions with clients.
Additional duties include synthesizing industry, market and economic trends to assist with continually keeping the team’s knowledge current. Also, the successful candidate would participate in the management of the flow of incoming opportunities on a regular basis. Other duties include the monitoring, documenting, and reacting to the financial and operational status of the portfolio of companies in which the group has made investments and loans. Also included with this responsibility is the monitoring, documenting and underwriting of compliance requirements.

There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit’s risk appetite and all risk and compliance program requirements.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: underwriting, credit, relationship management, or portfolio management; or successful completion of Wholesale Credit Management Training Program
