VC Associate @ Sterling.VC In New York, NY

Sterling.VC (LinkedIn, Crunchbase) is a sports, media and real estate venture capital fund supported by Sterling Equities, the principal owner of the New York Mets, SportsNet New York, and Overwatch New York. We are seeking afull time associate to support the firm. Some of the firm’s portfolio companies are listed here.

Role Overview: 

  • Identify and analyze new investment opportunities
  • Conducting due diligence, business plan and market analysis, drafting internal investment memos and executing transactions
  • Analyzing and tracking activity in industry subsectors
  • Assisting portfolio companies 
  • Preparing LP reports and monthly portfolio newsletters
  • Providing operational support to the firm’s new ventures, including the New York franchise in Activision Blizzard’s Overwatch League
  • Coordinating the firm’s annual sports and real estate tech events

Requirements: 

  • Relevant work experience (~2 years) in venture capital or private equity
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Comfort with financial models and cap tables
  • Driven to do do the unexpected, to be a thought leader, and to create value in ways no one is expecting
  • Desire to work in an unstructured small group environment and develop new (and refine existing) processes
  • Familiarity and passion for technology
  • Bonus: experience with new media, esports, or real estate tech
