The Associate position is responsible for providing support to the firms partner in all aspects of potential and active investments in early state, development and expansion stage. This is a unique opportunity for the right individual who will be mentored by the founder of firm. The company provides value-added capital for technology, communications and energy value chain companies, including wireless, software, systems, applications, services and components companies. Our focus is fundamentally to help entrepreneurs benefit from our knowledge, contacts and expertise.
We focus on next generation systems, software, services, and component companies
We invest $1-15 million per company (initial and follow-on investments)
Our investment mix is approximately one-third early stage, one-third development & expansion stage, and one-third late stage
We concentrate on 25 to 30 investments per fund
We typically lead or co-lead
The job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Responsibilities:
- Generate high quality deal flow by proactively identifying investment opportunities in pre-defined technology segments and newly discovered segments.
- Manage deal prospects from first conversation through term sheet to deal close, coordinating resources to assess and win the deal
- Lead and coordinate deal analysis, financial modeling, and due diligence
Form hypotheses on investment opportunities based on both key facts and market intuition
- Create clear and concise investment memos to the investment committee
- Continually monitor and investigate macro and micro industry trends to recommend new sectors of technology for evaluation and potential investment
Requirements / Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a top undergraduate program with superior academic performance (preferably in engineering or computer science)
- Two years of experience in consulting or investment banking preferably out of a tech group
- Ability to interpret data and provide relevant conclusions/recommendations
- Excellent project management and organizational skills
- Ability to articulate ideas in group setting
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to develop and maintain effective business partner relationships
- Self-starter with strong work ethic
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint
- Strong desire to work in deal generation/sourcing investment environment
- Strong writing skills
- Ability to interact professionally with company founders and executives
