Position Summary
This position plays a critical role in supporting NUVP and WGU to achieve their strategic objectives by supporting the investment team with analysis of future investment areas and companies that provide the greatest opportunity and strategic fit within the emerging digital learning space. This person will work closely with the investment team in order to source, analyze, and execute investments in digital learning companies. This role is involved in aiding the Investment team; conducting due diligence of potential opportunities; and aiding the associate to work with venture partners to coordinate analysis and information of the digital learning space.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Compiles, analyzes, and synthesizes financial and business information/data into clear, concise business cases and presentation materials in support of potential investments, joint ventures, strategic investments, and other strategic projects
Researches industries and niches to identify growth rate, size, trends and themes while incorporating best practices that are identified
Analyzes financial and operating performance information, assisting in the group’s due diligence investigations of prospective targets, and models expected return profile of an opportunity
Analyzes company financials and builds financial models for valuation, deal structure
Assists in the preparation of marketing materials, including private placement memoranda, term sheets, and investor presentation materials
Assists in managing travel and related logistics of capital raising activities for potential investments
Assists in preparing responses to investor due diligence requests
Other responsibilities and projects as assigned
Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities
Demonstrated investment track record in establishing, prioritizing and leading the origination/sourcing process, due diligence and investment transactions in a corporate venture group, independent venture fund, investment bank, or private equity fund
Ability to articulate and implement an investment strategy, demonstrate a creative capacity to source and select worthy deals, and orchestrate end-to-end transactional closure
Ability to leverage new and existing professional relationships and networks
Appetite for constant learning, an unrivaled work ethic, and works well in team environments
Proven experience with financial modeling, and running full processes in equity and debt financings, merger and acquisitions, licensing agreements, and joint ventures
Working grasp of basic financial accounting and tax concepts in a startup / venture capital environment
Strong organization skills, excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills, coupled with the presence and self-confidence to interface with the key constituents including Senior Investment team, Investment Committee members, and other Senior Leaders
Growth mindset and adaptable to new ideas and demonstrates an entrepreneurial work ethic and ability to work in fast paced startup companies

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in a Masters Program
2+ years of professional relevant experience in consulting, investment banking, venture capital, or private equity
Preferred Qualifications:
Enrolled in MBA Program
Experience operating in a fast-growing digital learning company
