VC Associate @ Giesecke+Devrient Ventures in Munich, Germany

Giesecke+Devrient Ventures is the newly founded Venture Capital organization of Giesecke+Devrient (G+D), the long established group ‘creating confidence’ and actively shaping one of the most important trends of the future – security. We are pursuing two goals: to identify and finance startup companies excelling outstanding innovation in G+D’s business fields, and to support our startups with the unique technology / partner and customer network and expertise of the G+D group. Secondly, Giesecke+Devrient Ventures facilitates exceptional business and technology seeds graduating the group’s digitalization incubator to spin-out and grow as an independent company in the startup-investor ecosystem.

For our office in Munich we are recruiting an Investment Professional (m/f) Ventures.

Your Responsibilities

    • You will enjoy the opportunity to co-shape and -build Giesecke+Devrient Ventures.
      Our focus is on innovative European companies in the broader field of security comprising, i.e. digital (cyber) security, identity technologies, secure connectivity and IoT solutions, innovation in payment and digital currencies, AI, blockchain…
    • Your task is to source investment opportunities through your network, and following a first assessment you will check the strategic relevance with G+D’s business units.
    • You will be instrumental in supporting spin-outs and building early stage startups from very selective high potential graduates of G+D’s incubation / acceleration program.
    • You will take responsibility in due diligence of our investment candidates validating the business opportunity, establishing an investment case and you will contribute in structuring and negotiating terms for potential investments.
    • Following a theme-based investment strategy, you will work on identifying innovation fields through trend analysis, landscaping of players and build investment hypothesis in discussion with the team.

 

Your Qualifications

  • You have a degree in engineering or physics, ideally in combination with a degree in business administration with excellent results.
  • You have gained experience in sourcing and structuring software and technology venture capital investments, business and technical due diligence, as well as business / financial planning.
  • Your experience ideally comes from having held positions of increasing responsibility within a venture capital firm – preferably a seed / early stage fund, but could also be from a corporate venture capital group or a venture builder or incubator/accelerator. Additional management consulting experience is beneficial.
  • You have several years of relevant work experience. Knowledge and work expereince in software and ideally exposure to the field of security is desirable.
  • You are comfortable acting on your own initiative and in a multi-national environment and are prepared for international travel.
