Diffusion Capital Partners (LinkedIn, Crunchbase), is an early stage Venture Capital Fund Manager primarily investing in Turkey and in technology intensive projects and startups. We are currently seeking an associate to join our investment team. We are very hands-on investors and we can offer you a lens into the promising startups across technology sectors along with an environment to take responsibility, challenge yourself, learn and grow. This position will be based in Ankara with frequent travel requirements to Istanbul.
Main Responsibilities
- Identify, source and qualify startups
- Participate proactively in discovering and vetting entrepreneurs
- Build and manage the pipeline of potential investment opportunities to be reviewed weekly
- Perform in-depth industry and market research to screen investment opportunities
- Evaluate operational metrics, analyze IP and competitive positions, products and technologies
- Conduct due diligence on potential investments and develop investment cases
- Compile reporting and review materials for the Investment Committee and the Advisory Board
- Assist deal structuring with financial and exit modelling
- Contribute to DCP’s support to portfolio companies
- Interact with portfolio company management or DCP investment professionals to collect and validate monthly and quarterly financial information
- Provide ad-hoc support regarding LP requests, conferences, meetings and other company priorities as required
- Draft internal and external periodic portfolio reporting documentation and presentations
- Clearly communicate DCP’s investment criteria and approach to entrepreneurs and investors
Desired Skills and Experience
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Finance with an outstanding academic track record from a top institution
- MBA or MSc. in Finance strongly preferred
- 2-3 years of full-time work experience in venture capital or private equity, startup leadership, product management, engineering, technology management or alternatively;
- 3-4 years of full-time work experience in investment banking, strategy consulting, transaction advisory services, financial advisory or big 4 accounting firm
- Strong experience with financial statement analysis including established valuation analysis and modelling skills
- Sound understanding of intellectual property rights, patents in particular
- Evidence of strong data analysis, research and problem solving skills
- Experience with presenting to senior level management of organizations
- Familiarity with investment management and good understanding of Venture Capital and Private Equity industry
Basic Requirements & Competencies
- Strong interpersonal skills and founder/entrepreneur empathy
- Demonstrated passion about VC, emerging technologies, startups and innovation
- Good understanding of equity and quasi-equity products and financial engineering instruments
- Commercial approach and firm business acumen with solid financial analysis capabilities
- Strong Excel knowledge with experience in cash-flow modelling and investment valuation techniques
- Exceptional drafting skills with attention to detail
- Sense of initiative and taking ownership approach
- Extremely strong communication and networking skills with established meaningful relationships in the technology ecosystem
- Excellent command of written and spoken English
