VC Analyst @ West in San Francisco, CA

We are seeking a solution orientated, results driven, and highly detailed thinker to join our West Venture Partners team. As part of the portfolio investment team, you will be responsible for developing and driving the ongoing process to proactively evaluate portfolio company investments and support the fund’s portfolio analysis and reporting. This role supports the team’s efforts in evaluating portfolio company opportunities through market research, opportunity identification and screening, due diligence, financial modeling, operations, and portfolio reporting. The venture fund team spends its time working both internally and externally with senior level leaders and executives. This role provides unparalleled experience and exposure to start-ups, venture capital, and the broader technology ecosystem.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Assist with screening opportunities and summarizing them for evaluation with the broader team
  • Support the process to identify, track, and monitor start-ups of interest in relevant markets, including analysis of the market opportunity
  • Develop financial models and perform customized company valuation analysis
  • Summarize these results in impactful, polished reports and presentations for the Partner team
  • Coordinate and perform due diligence on vetted investment opportunities
  • Prepare investment recommendation presentations for leadership and other stakeholders
  • Work with our current portfolio companies to collect regular investor updates, track their financial performance, and assist their business development initiatives
  • Develop fund level performance modeling including investment attribution analysis
  • Support the fund’s fund raising, operations, and reporting through cross-functional collaboration

You maintain a friendly and upbeat demeanor and use impeccable discretion with sensitive company and personal information. Your sense of presence, urgency and excellent organizational skills keep you, and therefore the executive team, one step ahead of the game.

Some stuff you’re good at, and the extraordinary:

  • Bachelors degree in Finance or related business degree
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Venture Capital, Private Equity, I-banking, or Corp Dev
  • Excellent analytical, modelling, market research and quantitative skills
  • Experience with the various legal, tax and other issues common to transactions
  • Meticulous attention to detail with ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills
  • High level of demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel and financial modeling
  • Highly motivated to succeed both individually and as a young company, and thinking big by bringing innovation to dated processes and systems
