VC Analyst @ Salesforce Ventures in San Francisco, CA

Salesforce, (Linkedin, Crunchbase) the Customer Success Platform and world’s #1 CRM company, is looking for a Analyst / Senior Analyst to join Salesforce Ventures in San Francisco. Salesforce Ventures is one of the most active corporate venture capital investment groups, with a portfolio of over 200 enterprise cloud startups in 14 countries.  Salesforce Ventures is tasked with long-term value creation by helping maintain the company’s competitive advantage, and advancing its strategic objectives by (i) identifying growth opportunities within new markets and new technology segments (ii) evaluating investments that leverage these opportunities, and (iii) managing investment deal execution and portfolio monitoring processes.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in managing our quarterly portfolio review process: work with portfolio companies, partners, administrators and the accounting team to prepare quarterly fair market value analysis for public filings
  • Help prepare general entries for monthly closing and quarterly and annual financial statements and associated reports for our public filings 
  • Maintain proprietary portfolio database of all our investments and exits 
  • Ensure that information related to portfolio companies in quarterly reviews, cap tables, financial statements, etc. are fully accurate and up to date
  • Create and maintain analytical infrastructure to be leveraged by Salesforce Ventures team, including preparing and maintaining fund and portfolio company dashboards
  • Manage and track portfolio company reporting, and analyze portfolio companies’ financial performance and trends 
  • Build presentations for senior management and the Board of Directors
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses for strategic planning and deal evaluation efforts for investments
  • Monitor, research, and develop intelligence on emerging trends and disruptive companies relevant to the Salesforce ecosystem

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Undergraduate degree from a top institution in business or finance; 
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience, including substantive experience at a top-tier investment bank, corporate finance, venture capital, private equity or consulting firm (preferably with investment experience in the technology sector) with a track record of success
  • Excellent analytical skills, as well as the ability to think critically and creatively
  • An inquisitive personality, able to gather and synthesize information, and draw meaningful conclusions
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to work well under time pressure and ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously with extreme attention to detail
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Ability to motivate, collaborate, and work successfully in a team environment
  • Ability to work cross-functionally within a dynamic, high growth organization
  • High level of energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to success
  • Salesforce product and technology knowledge is strongly preferred
  • An understanding of and demonstrated interest in cloud computing and emerging consumer and business technology trends
  • Demonstrated experience, passion and interest in technology, business and the startup world
