B ased out of the San Francisco Bayer Innovation Center, we are teams of director-level multidisciplinary individual contributors led by a Venture Architect and comprising a Design Researcher, Interaction Designer, Visual Designer and Business Designer. As we grow to achieve global reach, we work independently and embed with some of the leading studios in the world to expand our capabilities so we can meet the specific requirements of each challenge. We work beyond digital and physical point solutions to create longitudinal journeys of care and service that add value at every step for the diverse needs of those seeking to improve their health and those who are involved in their care. We begin with rigorous quantitative and qualitative research to understand the problem space and apply our venture design process to ensure successful delivery of investable concepts to Bayer’s executive management committee for approval, then proceed through incubation and market launch.

Your Tasks And Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this role, Senior Director Venture Lead, are to:

  • Responsible to coordinate the efforts from research to product build to business and venture build ensuring that the team can successfully build up businesses that generates new revenue streams;
  • Lead by example across all stages of ventures design methodology, including ideation, identification, evaluation, investment case pitch, incubation and launch;
  • Responsible for driving innovation project management, including qualitative research, problem understanding, solution ideation and identification, desirability prototyping and validation, feasibility and viability assessment, and minimal viable product incubation;
  • In this process, you will be collaborating and partnering with the
  • venture team leads comprised from business designer, design researcher, interaction designer and visual designer, to develop solutions and create holistic experiences that solve real world problems and are ethical, diverse, inclusive, equitable, sustainable and transparent;
  • Responsible to optimize the work dynamics applying variety of human centric design approaches, including rapid prototyping, qualitative research in the field and Agile and Lean methodology when appropriate;
  • Align strategic goals of ventures with the goals of the company through communications with venture board members;
  • Support the head of Integrated Care Ventures and lead the venture team on a daily basis, adhering to deadlines and ensuring an optimal integration of the different contributions of the team members;
  • Communicate with stakeholders on progress and status;
  • Will be the go-to person for team related matters and will manage key relationships;
  • Drive the presentation development and articulation to venture stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate, graduate or advanced degree in Engineering, Sciences or Business;
  • Seven plus years of experience in general management and product management;
  • Demonstrated experience of founding and funding a company, building- up products, launching businesses, generating revenue and successful exiting;
  • Experience with M&A and partnership execution;
  • Experience in health care, pharmaceutical and life sciences with deep knowledge of value chain;
  • Experience with Design Thinking innovation approach, human-centric design, including rapid prototyping, qualitative research in the field and iterative agile design;
  • Proven track record of participating or managing innovative projects with successful outcomes;
  • Strong communication skills, proven track record in executive management interactions;
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and motivate peers and superiors both inside and outside the organization;
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems, drive conflict resolutions and buy-in of stakeholders towards successful outcome;
  • Curiosity to constantly challenge and improve skills and processes to broaden your “T” seeking exposure to new and emerging technologies, devices, digital therapeutics and behavioral treatment methods;
  • Experienced in working with multicultural, multidisciplinary, cross- functional teams that include designers, stakeholders and other actors in understanding the problems and creating the right solutions to improve human life and the experience of health;
  • Strong communication skills, proven track record across all levels of the organization and in executive management interactions;
  • Personal characteristics: passionate, ethical, empathetic, flexible, strategic, entrepreneurial, proactive creative thinker, determined, able to manage ad hoc situations, thriving in ambiguity, comfortable in uncertainty, change and fast paced environments.
