Senior VC Associate @ NextWorld EverGreen in San Francisco, CA

The Senior Associate role is fully engaged across all investment team activities, and is primarily responsible for the effectiveness, content and quality of our investment evaluation processes, and for sustaining productive relationships with our portfolio companies. Senior Associates must leverage resources to deliver sector analysis that informs investment strategy, engage with the investment team in developing opinions and insights, ensure accurate and timely financial analysis, and represent the firm externally with confidence and poise.

NWE places significant responsibility in the role, and a Senior Associate carries responsibilities across all aspects of our investment process including:

  • Team focus: all Senior Associates support their colleagues in their work – pitching in to get the job done is an essential characteristic for success
  • Industry expertise: brings knowledge and curiosity about all NWE sectors; proactively tracks or researches companies and industry trends, contributes perspective and insights to senior team members
  • Actively engages in sourcing activities at the direction of the partners
  • Drives investment evaluation: ensures deadlines are met and keeps deal team focused by anticipating steps in the process and controlling the cadence of deliverables
  • Builds effective relationships with portfolio company management teams: enhances NWE relationship with management in all interactions; takes time to learn about their strengths and challenges while consistently building relationships based on trust and communication, generally responsible for tracking and managing essential aspects of the investor-portfolio company relationship
  • Successfully and clearly communicates with the team, portfolio company leadership and external parties regarding expectations and timelines
  • Drives production of key investment process deliverables independently when necessary and with the team where appropriate
  • Seeks more effective ways to execute investment analysis and portfolio company performance; holds high standards for performance and accountability

 

Qualifications

  • Prior CPG experience in private equity, venture capital, corporate development, strategic consulting or investment banking is required and must be detailed in a cover letter
  • Strong quantitative and financial modeling skills including fluency with financial statements, DCF, comparables, and returns models
  • Proven ability and enthusiasm to work in a small team and in a multi-cultural environment
  • Minimum 4-6 years of experience in an investment environment
  • Strong intellectual curiosity, and excellent critical thinking capabilities
  • Maturity, resilience and good judgement
