Senior VC Associate @ Lenovo Open Innovation in San Francisco, CA

Lenovo Research innovates in the areas of AI, cloud computing, blockchain, 5G and smart devices to provide user-centric services and next-generation experience for smarter life and work.
 
This role will have responsibility for providing critical insights on emerging technology trends, identifying new innovation and strategic partners working across Lenovo labs and business teams in mobile, PC, artificial intelligence, 5G, next gen communications, computer vision, natural language processing, robotics and supply chain.
 
Core Responsibilities

  • Identify and engage potential strategic partnership, M&A or investment opportunities via active outreach, networking and industry research. Source disruptive technologies of high strategic value to Lenovo’s innovation activities. Build long-term relationships with strategic partners, including startups, top academic faculty/researchers and technology thought leaders.
  • Evaluate deal opportunities in close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including R&D, product development, corporate strategy, corporate development and venture team. Support deal evaluation and execution, such as valuation analysis, technology assessment and project management. Evolve seed ideas into Lenovo growth engines. Develop analytical frameworks and manage deal pipeline databases.
  • Align internal and external key resources to stay abreast of global industry trends, competitive landscape and Lenovo product roadmaps. Formulate and deliver strategic insights to senior executives. Analyze geographic trends with strategic implications and provide updates to relevant teams.
  • Generate data-driven intelligence on key innovation trends, including market sizing, business model, competitor landscape and strategic implications to Lenovo. Formulate in-depth analysis on emerging technologies such as deep learning, big data, blockchain, AR/VR, robotics, quantum computing.

 
Qualifications
 BS/BA/MS in Finance, Business, Engineering or Science, MBA, excellent academic track record
 Technical knowledge or demonstrated passion in emerging technologies
 Proactive attitude to build networks/relationships in the startup/VC community
 Exceptional project management, presentation, and problem solving skills
 
Preferred Qualifications
 Masters or advanced degree in Computer Science or Engineering
 1-2 years of experience in investment banking or technology-focused function at corporate
 Self-starter and fast learner who is eager to learn in a fast paced environment
 High energy, strong interpersonal skills, professional dedication and intellectual curiosity
 Chinese Mandarin skills
