Associate VC Jobs (2) at ASV in San Francisco and NYC

ASV is a $275 million venture capital firm backed by AXA, the leading global insurer and (through its Alliance Bernstein subsidiary) asset manager. ASV invests in enterprise software, fintech, consumer and digital health, as well as other technologies and verticals relevant to insurance and asset management. With local teams in San Francisco, New York, London and Paris, we invest globally and across stages. We are looking to hire two associates, one in SF and one in NYC, to focus on our early stage investment strategy. Both associates will work directly with NYC based General Partner who heads the firm’s North America early stage investments.


  • Strong academic performance at a top university
  • MBA is not required
  • 2-3 years of experience in a startup, early stage VC firm, consulting or investment banking
  • Strong network of startups and VCs/angels
  • Understanding of and excitement about technology, ideally including knowledge of enterprise software, fintech, consumer or digital health sectors Skills
  • Aptitude for sourcing deals and networking
    • Drive and perseverance to identify investment opportunities and engage CEOs to Sell the ASV value proposition to CEOs and other investors o Interpersonal skills required to build and cultivate relationships with CEOs and VCs o Interest in actively seeking out and attending events like pitch days, networking sessions, conferences, etc.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
    • Conduct market and competitive research
    • Assess quality of team at target companies
      • Evaluate key business drivers (e.g. unit economics)
    • Build financial models and perform valuation & comparables analysis
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Author investment memoranda
    • Present deal opportunities to General Partners
  • Strategic thinker
    • Analyze investment opportunities and make recommendations to General Partners
    • Formulate investment theses and create market maps to drive sourcing efforts
  • Intellectual curiosity
    • Passion for learning about new sectors and companies
    • Desire to understand the key tenets of a business and whether a deal is a good investment (vs. an interesting company)
  • Mature, professional personality
    • Can effectively represent ASV in the marketplace and with our LP, AXA
