About the Role
We are looking to add an Analyst to our investment team. This is an ideal role for someone intellectually curious and energized by discussing new technologies and startups. You will be exposed to various industries and business strategies while playing a role in helping determine which startups receive an investment.
We offer a competitive compensation package that includes full health (Medical, Dental, Vision) and wellness benefits. If you’re excited about the intersection of startup investing and inclusion, then we encourage you to apply. Historically overlooked candidates are also highly encouraged to apply.
What You’ll Do (Estimated % time spent)
Diligence (40%) : Qualitative and quantitative analysis of prospective investments. This includes evaluation of the team, market, product, metrics, and customer and personal reference calls. Compile information and insights into presentations and investment memos.
Sourcing (30%) : Identify and evaluate emerging startups through pitch decks and initial screening calls with founders. Outreach to promising companies that fit themes and trends we identify. You will also work closely with our accelerator program to identify investment opportunities within the cohort. Lastly, you will drive projects to enhance the firm’s data capturing capabilities while ensuring all founders have a world-class experience with us.
Research (20%): Research and prepare presentations related to industries we are exploring as a firm, helping find new areas aligned with our thesis.
Ecosystem Development (10%): Create content (blog posts, social media, events, etc.) that provides founders and co-investors with insight into our approach and learnings. Advance our mission of economic inclusion by conceptualizing and executing efforts related to making venture capital more accessible and understandable.
Requirements:
Strong analytical skills: You will be introduced to new technologies, business models, and industries. This requires you to learn quickly and then synthesize complex concepts.
Effective written and verbal communication: You will interact with various stakeholders, including founders, limited partners, partner organizations, and co-investors.
Demonstrated passion: Loves talking about the startup and VC ecosystem and holds thoughtful perspectives on new technologies and emerging trends. We continuously learn from each other.
Proactive and resourceful: You must find creative ways to access relevant information and accomplish goals, thinking outside the box to deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
A clear opinion: A heavy dose of self-awareness, and an abundance of empathy are all required traits. Previous experience in VC, management consulting, or investment banking is a plus but not required. This is a pre-MBA role.
Our firm is based in Los Angeles. We are looking for candidates who are based in or willing to relocate to California. Modest relocation assistance may be available on a case-by-case basis.
