Curated by John Gannon and Team

VC Analyst @ 27 Ventures in Remote

*27V just completed one full year of operations and during that time, we’ve invested in 11 amazing companies around the globe. It is time we add a helping hand and, more importantly, a different perspective to the team!*

So, I’m hiring the first full-time employee for the firm. An Analyst who’s ready to roll up their sleeves and help manage day-to-day operations of Fund I.

Who we are

Twenty Seven Ventures (27V) is curating a group of thoughtful founders building the foundations of human learning and productivity; entrepreneurs with an overwhelming drive to build a business that not only creates shareholder value but also leaves a positive impact on our fragile world. The Fund invests $25k – $250k in global EdTech and Future of Work startups at the pre-Seed and Seed stages.

Our current portfolio of 11 companies is spread across the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Taiwan and New Zealand. We’re supporting these awesome entrepreneurs while partnering with top tier investors like Kleiner Perkins, Kapor Capital, Point72 Ventures, Emerson Collective, Y Combinator, Next Play Ventures, Metrodora Ventures and many more.

I (Atin Batra) am the sole General Partner of the firm. An ex-entrepreneur, I’ve been investing for ~6 years now. Outside of work, I’m learning to play the drums and be an always-in-the-mid-pack ultra marathon trail runner.

Who you are

You are, above all, inherently curious – IMHO, the most important quality in a VC who’s evlauating various new companies & business models on a daily basis. You are highly organized and always taking the initiative to build/try something new. The ideal candidate would identify with being scrappy and resourceful, analytical and contrarian.

This position is a perfect fit for a recent grad or someone with 1-3 years of work experience. But even if that’s not you, and you’re certain you want to dive into the world of startups/VC, do apply. I really don’t care if you went to an Ivy League school or a community college or didn’t go to university at all. As long as you’re willing to put in the effort to learn the chops, we welcome YOU.

What you’ll do

You’ve likely heard that ‘venture is an apprenticeship business’ – it’s true. All the investors I know, including yours truly, learnt the business of deploying capital by working in the trenches with other investors and making their own mistakes. This will be your opportunity.

As an Analyst at 27V, you’ll own our dealflow database (on Airtable), source potential dealflow, run preliminary evaluations on companies, assist in investment due diligence, support the portfolio companies (through thick and thin), build the firm’s digital presence through content production & curation, research our target sectors and so much more.

There are truly no limits to what you can do at the firm. Our summer interns crafted their own projects and produced deliverables that have been quite valuable to our operations since. You’ll have the same benefit – freedom to invest a portion of your time as you deem fit, as long as the project is additive to the firm’s operations.

How to apply

Interested candidates should apply via this form here, before 15 November. We will review all submissions and schedule interviews with shortlisted applicants. The goal is to complete the process by mid-December, with a planned start date in January 2021.

Please do note: while we’re flexible on compensation & benefits, this has been budgeted as a remote full-time junior position.
