What This Role Does: The Senior Associate role plays a pivotal role in the diligence process of both CEO’s and target acquisition companies for the Next Coast Search portfolio. The Senior Associate will work closely with the Partner and General Partners of the Fund to source, evaluate, and make recommendations regarding potential investments for the fund, in addition to playing a role in portfolio construction.

Responsibilities of this role include:

Participate in the due diligence of potential portfolio company CEO’s and investment opportunities (including direct investments and secondaries). Diligence of CEO’s will include the scoring of candidates across a number of key criteria and ranking against his or her peers. At the portfolio company level, diligence will include market and company research, preparing financial models, performing valuation and IRR analyses, creating investment memoranda, and effectively communicating recommendations to the Investment Committee

Build and maintain relationships with top business schools and search fund/entrepreneurship through acquisition (ETA) professors and clubs to effectively source potential CEO candidates.

Build and maintain relationships with other search fund and small to mid-sized private equity professionals and other market participants

Coordinate with Next Coast’s Chief Operating Officer to manage the legal documentation and closing process for new investments

Help to manage and assist in the development of junior investment professionals

Assist in the monitoring of active searchers and portfolio company performance, in addition to preparing materials for internal quarterly reviews, external investor reports, and fundraising

Minimum Qualifications

Professional experience – 5+ years of related work experience in financial services, consulting, investment banking, private equity, or in a strategic M&A advisory role

Technical skills – Strong analytical, financial modeling, and valuation analysis skills, as demonstrated through prior experience forecasting balance sheets, cash flow statements, and income statements

Communication skills – strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to concisely and effectively deliver an investment recommendation or opinion

Time management skills – intellectually curious, able to independently manage workflows and prioritize projects, and complete tasks with limited oversight/supervision

Interpersonal and team dynamics – comfortable working with a team environment, open to constructive criticism and also willing to critique other team members work with the intent of getting to a well- formed investment opinion

Educational background – Bachelors degree, relevant training or investment experience. MBA preferred

The work location for this role is at the firm’s office in Austin, Texas. This role is not remote. You must be authorized to work in the United States.

Compensation will include cash compensation and carried interest
