Senior VC Associate @ Flyover Capital in Overland Park, KS

Flyover Capital is seeking an exceptional full-time Senior Associate to become a member of the team and work to further our mission of creating the next generation of technology success stories in the region. Candidates should have successful experience working in the world of venture-backed technology startups. Other previous entrepreneurial and/or investment experience of any kind within information technology is a significant plus. Passion for serving entrepreneurs in underserved markets is a pre-requisite.Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to all aspects of deal flow from proactively sourcing new investment opportunities to investment execution
  • Screen entrepreneurs’ pitch decks and conduct interviews with entrepreneurs
  • Evaluate opportunities for investment, assess investment risks, analyze financial data, and guide investment valuation
  • Manage due diligence process and craft investment memos
  • Conduct market research on and evaluate competitive products and services, and the demand for these competitive products and services
  • Assist Flyover Capital in actively supporting entrepreneurs in the pre and post funding stages
  • Develop and deliver presentations to firm’s partners regarding potential investments and existing portfolio companies
  • Represent Flyover Capital and extend the firm’s brand in markets across flyover country and at events that help build the tech ecosystem

Qualifications:REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Previous experience (3-5years) and knowledge of the world of technology acquired through working at a tech startup, consulting firm, investment bank, and/or other venture capital/private equity firm
  • Talent for building and managing positive and productive relationships with a variety of stakeholders
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and communication skills; ability to ramp quickly on subject matter and synthesize salient information into succinct verbal and written communication
  • Expressed desire to create a lasting impact on the technology landscape in underserved regions
  • Intellectual curiosity and sense of ownership to delve into new technology and markets with minimal guidance
  • Flexibility and strong interest in travelling to entrepreneurial communities across Flyover country


  • A bachelor’s degree (MBA is a plus)
  • Degree in Computer Science or exposure to self-taught development coursework
  • Familiarity with venture capital financing structures and practices, e.g., convertible debt and equity
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with entrepreneurs, investor groups, and tech community advocates from diverse backgrounds
  • Familiarity with major tech ecosystem individuals, groups and events in the central United States
