QED Investors is a premiere global venture capital firm investing in financial technology startups across multiple stages. We announced our seventh fund of $1.05 billion committed capital for early and growth-stage investments in September of 2021. The Role:
The Principal will focus on supporting the firm’s investment decision-making practices, philosophy, and process. This is a newly created role (and function) formed because of the firm’s growth and international expansion. She/he will work in the newly created Office of the Chief Investment Officer, a firm-wide horizontal role/ function designed to ensure QED maximizes returns, constantly improves, and lives their brand promise as the best venture advisors in fintech.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Chief Investment Officer in all aspects of evaluating potential investment opportunities, in support of rigorous decision-making across the entire investment portfolio
- Create internal frameworks to assist in the deal filtration process; establish guidelines for investing practices, investment decision-making, and portfolio construction
- Support due diligence and deal execution efforts for prospective investments by assessing business plans, building financial models, and conducting market analyses
- Conduct business and post-mortem analyses leveraging exceptional analytical skills, with the proven ability to identify opportunities and communicate findings/lessons learned
- Engage, communicate, and collaborate internally with QED’s investing and leadership team to assist in their decision-making processes throughout the deal lifecycle
Qualities:
- Bachelor’s degree from a top-tier institution
- 1-2 operating roles of 3-5 years each, or 6-10 years of experience in a Business or Investment Analyst role; financial services or tech sector coverage preferred
- Exceptional analytical skills with a passion for data analytics; conceptual problem-solving skills combined with a strong quantitative orientation; innately curious
- Impeccable business judgment, ethics, and integrity
