Growth Warrior Capital invests at Seed and Series A in dangerous technology companies led by diverse and female founders, building platforms that fundamentally change the way we work, earn, and build wealth.

We are a team of operators advancing the funding landscape for women and founders of color, grounded in our Managing Partner Promise Phelon’s 20 years as a founder and exec in Silicon Valley.

As we continue deploying, we are seeking an experienced VC investor to head up our deal team. This role is suited to operators-turned-VC, or folks who come with venture experience who also enjoy building.

Key functions:

  • Day-to-day senior deal lead: run deals from top of funnel to disco, diligence, and close
  • Guide founder/company assessment and internal rubrics; write GWC investment memos, and socialize to relevant co-investors
  • Build and lead the deal team
  • Align with the GP’s vision and get to know how she views deals; handle requests for specific research above and beyond “standard” disco
  • Roll up your sleeves in getting to know founders and companies that come our way, and be instrumental in bringing founders to GWC that haven’t heard of us yet
  • Partner with LPs and preferred VCs to navigate co-invest opportunities
  • Manage our deal CRM and weekly/quarterly reporting (internal and for LPs)
  • Help build our Venture Partner model (esp. scouts)
  • Build fellows program; hire interns
  • Have a voice in our thought leadership
  • Establish our presence in Austin and around Texas as a fund that founders and investors want to work with

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience in tech and/or VC
  • Proven ability to add value to portfolio at all stages of growth
  • Thesis development; strong quant and qual research skills
  • Understand how founders work, and speak their language
  • Participation in the fundraising and IR processes
  • Get sh*t done attitude — we are small and we work hard
  • Deep understanding of the funding landscape for diverse and female founders — come with a thesis about what’s working/what’s not
  • Familiarity with and relationships within the Austin / TX startup ecosystem
  • Intellectual curiosity and track record of digging into trends
  • Values: proactivity, bring a strong POV, no fear, committed to driving change through capitalism, take ownership of your projects, be energetic, be effective, be memorable

What success looks like:

Ultimately, we want this role to supercharge our pipeline with incredible diverse and female founders, run deals end-to-end, and shape our deal team.

  • Increase on-thesis, high-quality deal flow
  • Deliver a smooth, repeatable deal eval and diligence process (we have some proprietary ingredients here to build around!)
  • Contributing to portco success
  • Driving deals that help accelerate our trajectory in this next phase of growth

This role is based in Austin, TX. We primarily work from home but spend a lot of time on the ground in the community. We will have in-office days in the future.
