Manager Venture Capital
InVenture Group an emerging venture capital fund and national syndicate network headquartered in Southfield MI, partners with compelling and emerging technology companies in both venture and early growth stages to leverage the assets of our growth partner network. Position Overview
The Managing Director will have experience as an investment professional who has worked in early-stage venture capital space. The successful individual need not bring a huge network with them as the firm already has existing relationships in place. This role will include sourcing deal flow that will lead to early-stage and early growth stage investments. The role will be responsible for help building and managing portfolio and realizing exit opportunities. Being part of the team but also able to work independently.
Specific Responsibilities
- Includes all aspects of investment activity from origination to exit with the goal of investing a significant amount of capital annually into high-quality opportunities.
- Sourcing investment opportunities and create an investment deal flow pipeline.
- Validate the business opportunity, establish an investment case, and structure and negotiate terms for potential investments.
- Maintain great relationships with entrepreneurs and other venture capital funds.
- Develop a complete understanding of an emerging company by evaluating its market opportunity, competition, product, sales and growth, operations, financial statements and projections, management strength, equity needs, and capital structure.
- Work with and support portfolio companies, including attending board meetings and monitoring performance to ensure returns and strategic objectives are achieved.
Qualifications
- Experience of 5 years+ with specific experience within a Tech industry focus in a venture capital firm, corporation venture capital group, fund, or alternative investments having a good understanding of the early-stage venture capital space, less than 5 years experience may be considered depending upon experience, skills, and knowledge.
- Experience from sourcing to exiting investments, including deal analysis, due diligence, reviewing and negotiating all documentation, serving as deal interface, and driving deal processes to completion.
- Analytical skills with ability to define issues, collect and analyze pertinent data, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions, draw valid conclusions, propose sound recommendations, and implement approved solutions in support of specified goals, giving attention to detail.
- Track record of investing and adding value to portfolio companies.
- Experience participating with a Board of Directors; with examples of value-added contributions to Board decision-making and collaboration with management will be advantageous.
- Related Industry 4.0 and/or mobile connectivity industry experience preferred (not required).
Compensation
Competitive compensation includes base salary. Also includes incentive compensation (carried interest). Compensation will depend on previous experience of the candidate.
