Join us to invest in companies that shape the future of nutrition, health, and climate sustainability. FoodLabs is a venture capital investor and studio based in Berlin with a focus on FoodTech. We’ve backed leading startups from the early days such as Formo, Infarm, share, Mushlabs, Mitte, Meatable, and Gorillas. As Investment Associate or Principal (m/f/x), you will be an integral part of our core team.
You will join a mission-driven team seeking the next generation of breakthrough ventures in spaces such as climate, agriculture, biotech, and nutrition in Europe, the UK, the US, and beyond. In this role, you will own the entire venture lifecycle from deal sourcing, assessment, and closing. You will build out the FoodLabs network and trusted relationships with the best entrepreneurs out there.

As an Associate or Principal, you will support our founders by leveraging your experience and network to provide them with an unfair advantage to disrupt the food value chain:

You will identify future trends, technologies, and business models in the food space, working directly with founders, investment teams, professors, and external investors to source and invest in groundbreaking, impactful business models from day 1. You will invest in companies that matter.

Founders are at the core of your attention at all times. They are the most important piece of the gigantic puzzle and we understand it as a privilege to accompany them on their way. You will be their strategic and operational sparring partner right by their side and support them in securing follow-on investments.

Proactively investigate new topics and technologies you are passionately curious about. Define and execute our strategy to be at the forefront of discovering new technology ventures in various markets and industries.

Evaluate potential business ideas by conducting market research, deep-diving into new industry sectors, due diligence on pitch decks, critically assessing models, and validating hypotheses with expert & user interviews.

Develop your network within the entrepreneurial and investment ecosystem to be the best place to accelerate the growth of portfolio ventures and identify upcoming ventures.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

The ability to independently manage and close deals from sourcing to term sheet negotiations due to past experience in a high-growth tech venture, investment banking, venture capital, or other related fields.

We also welcome candidates with previous founding or entrepreneurial experience.

Above all, we are looking for brave, curious, and mission-driven people ready to face a lot of obstacles on their way to ultimate success. Giving up is not an option.

An excellent academic track record, especially in biotech-related fields is highly welcome.

Outstanding analytical skills, ability to research quantitative and qualitative topics, develop business hypotheses, and test them in the market.

A problem-solving mindset and the ability to communicate with a diverse range of groups including candidates, investors, founders, and corporate partners

Full fluency in English is required
