// Job Description //
In this role, you will work with Decisive Point’s Health & Human Performance lead to support a diverse portfolio of innovative early-stage start-ups as they grow. Technologies you will be exposed to include biodefense, neurotechnology, artificial intelligence, synthetic biology, and more. You will help founders overcome their most pressing challenges and create winning proposals for federal grant and contracting opportunities to accelerate their R&D. This role sits at the intersection of government and early-stage technology, allowing you to gain valuable exposure to both the mechanics of government and early-stage start-up ecosystems. Travel for this position is estimated to be less than 10%. This is an entry-level role.
// Responsibilities //
- Prepare winning proposals for federal government funding opportunities across the life sciences
- Work with start-ups and government stakeholders to develop commercial roadmaps for first-in-class technologies
- Build narratives and supporting documentation that connects capability gaps to emerging technology applications
- Create and curate relevant content for informing startups on best practices for rapidly securing non-dilutive capital
- Conduct analyses of primary and secondary life science literature to understand unmet needs addressed by an innovation
- Conduct market research to identify funding opportunities that fit Decisive Point portfolio capabilities
- Support senior investment and advisory professionals with tasks and writing assignments as required
// Requirements //
- Excellent writing ability skills
- Ability to generate concise summaries of highly technical health/life science subject matter
- Effective communicator capable of creating highly polished presentations and research summaries
- Translate complex technical capabilities and benefits into clear and consistent messaging for non-technical decision-makers
- Experience and proficiency using Microsoft Powerpoint or equivalent
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Treats people with respect, keeps commitments, inspires others, and works with integrity
// Preferred Qualifications //
- A recent graduate from a top-tier college or university
- An interest in early-stage life science companies and the challenges they face
- Understanding of government, mechanisms for funding, and the various agencies involved in funding life science research
- Eager to work in a team environment with colleagues from diverse backgrounds
- Self-starter that is highly motivated and eager to contribute to the success of the team
- Passion for emerging technology, ventures, health, biotechnology, and government
- Experience with NIH and other Federal agency grant programs
