Position Description

Associates (or Senior Associates, used interchangeably throughout the job description) play an integral role in generating deal flow for the firm and analyzing potential investments directly alongside senior investment professionals. Successful Associates will effectively leverage the technology stack that IGP has built to enable one-on-one conversations with roughly 800 entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and investment bankers each year to assist in sourcing investments for the firm. Once an Associate identifies an opportunity, the Associate will become an integral part of the due diligence process and creation/presentation of investment materials detailing the investment thesis. Post-investment, the Associate will also work to monitor the portfolio company and support the business on strategic growth initiatives.

Role Requirements

  • 2-5 years of experience as an Associate or Senior Associate (with flexibility for the right experience and fit) at, preferably, a technology-focused: investment firm (equity or debt), investment banking group, or consulting group. Specific in-house experience (i.e., FP&A, corporate development) at B2B software companies will also be considered
  • Strong financial modeling and analysis skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong research skills
  • Strong command of basic accounting principles
  • Familiarity with capital structures and valuation methodologies
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Bachelor’s degree

Responsibilities

  • Role is a combination of deal origination, deal execution, and portfolio company management
  • Develop market research and investment theses to guide sourcing efforts
  • Source new investment opportunities based on investment themes and research and geographic sourcing methodologies 
  • Build meaningful relationships with management teams to position IGP as the partner of choice
  • Perform and present due diligence on investment opportunities, including financial modeling/analysis, industry research, and a deep understanding of customers and competition
  • Prepare investment committee memorandums
  • Deliver high-touch support to our portfolio companies across several operating areas
  • Participation in business development activities and maintenance of IGP’s technology stack

Compensation 

  • Compensation consists of a market-competitive base salary and year-end bonus and will also include carried interest
