As part of this effort, the Venture Capital Senior Associate will play a key role with the sourcing and evaluating new investment opportunities, executing on investment theses, and supporting our portfolio companies. The ideal candidate will be eager to deploy their investing experience to advance our thinking on how innovative technologies and business models can transform healthcare and improve the quality, convenience, and affordability of care for our members.

Purpose
The Venture Capital Senior Associate sources and evaluates new investment opportunities, supports the execution of investment theses, and lends assistance to our portfolio companies.
Essential Functions
Pipeline Management and Opportunity Evaluation
Builds long-term relationships with entrepreneurs that ensure that Healthworx is top of mind through the company’s growth. Engages with potential fund investments. Maintains a network of service providers, investors, and other ecosystem players that support deal sourcing and execution. Promotes the Healthworx brand through publications and thought-leadership.
Deal Execution
Seamlessly maps opportunities to Healthworx strategy and runs investment return models. Owns diligence workstreams and sections of the deal memos.
Portfolio Company Support
Supports portfolio companies on specific full-scale projects (commercial product development, exit management, etc). Supports collaborative work between Healthworx and CareFirst and serves as an ambassador across the organization.
Qualifications
Education Level: Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field OR in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.
Experience: 8 years related professional experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working at an accelerator, investor, venture studio, or other supporter of early start-ups.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities (KSAs)
- Collaborator who builds trusting relationships and drives engagement and decisions across multiple levels and stakeholders, including start-ups, corporates, non-profits, investors, etc.
- Strategic-thinker who gets to the root of the problem and potential solutions to any challenge.
- Project management skills to drive projects forward in both corporate and start-up environments, and ideally interface between the two.
- Must be able to meet established deadlines and handle multiple customer service demands from internal and external customers, within set expectations for service excellence.
- Must be able to effectively communicate and provide positive customer service to every internal and external customer, including customers who may be demanding or otherwise challenging.
