Clocktower Group is launching a new venture capital strategy, Clocktower Climate and Sustainability Solutions (“CCSS”). Our mission is to make the world a better, more sustainable place through private investments in for-profit technology startups. This traditional venture capital strategy will invest in companies and managers focused on reversing detrimental climate impacts and advancing global sustainability. We are looking for someone to join us who’s passionate about technology and a geek for all things climate.
The opportunity at Clocktower and you:
You are an entrepreneurial venture investor who is passionate about cleantech and sustainability initiatives. You will join us at the ground floor of what we intend to become the next great institutional venture group in climate technology. You will be the only dedicated full time hire on this product, and you will have a critical role in building all parts of our brand and investment engine. You will work closely with our broader venture team, using the frameworks we employ in our fintech practice to build pattern recognition and a climate tech ecosystem.
What you’ll do:
Build. Alongside management team, you will spearhead the vision and scaling of our climate and sustainability platform. You will be okay with wearing many hats and learning along the way – whether focusing on operations, fundraising efforts, or portfolio support, it’s in your nature to roll up your sleeves and get deep into the weeds to make things better.
Source. You will be our boots on the ground in climate tech scene and you will carry our flag at every event. You are systematic and deliberate in tracking private company information, and you build relationships with startups and other investors along the way. You are a natural networker—you like meeting new people and you yourself are also quite likeable. ‘
Analyze. You will be driving the process of evaluating potential transactions from start to finish. You are a junkie for the next new idea and light up when listening to entrepreneurs share theirs. You look forward to building the detailed financial model of how one of our potential investments will actually make money. You are excited to crack the market sizing assumptions provided by entrepreneurs and unpack their assumptions. You are just cynical enough to recognize when a CEO hasn’t really figured it out, and confident enough to place a bet when you’re sure they have.
Requirements:
- 3-7 years’ work experience in an investment bank, VC/PE firm, or climate startup
- Domain knowledge of the climate ecosystem and a genuine passion for technology and sustainability.
- You have an entrepreneurial spirit – you enjoy building things and proactively solving problems.
- You display an unquestioned work ethic. No projects is too big or too small.
- You’re a creative, speculative thinker who can envision how markets and industries might evolve.
- This role is full time in Santa Monica, California
- We currently require that all personnel and visitors to our office are fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus (subject to any exemptions or accommodations due to medical or religious reasons).

Salary Range: $125,000-$185,000. Compensation may vary based on experience, training, and education. This position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
